Clowns Run All the Record Companies That Ever Said We're Bad

Reading this blog entry from Too Much Joy caused me too much hilarity hence I must share on Too Poppy.

people always ask me if I wish I was signed to a major label. this is exactly why I'm happy to be independent. sure, I would love to have more money for advertising and tour support - but in the long run I won't have to worry about owing anybody any money. this type of story always reminds me of the Behind The Music - TLC (why I was watching I have no idea). This is a band that sold MILLIONS of records and had huge hit singles...and ended up in bankruptcy.

Although he writes this with a refreshingly humorous tone, it has no doubt been a painful experience. Reminded me of the book written by Semisonic's drummer. What a shameful grind of an industry.

do you happen to remember the name of the book by the Semisonic drummer? I've heard about it and always wanted to read it

So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star by Jacob Slichter. It's a great read, but then again I'm a fan and also worked in radio when they hit big.
