Ike's latest album, Tie the Knot With All That You Got, is now available in iTunes and Amazon. I haven't listened to it yet, but I did enjoy Ike's previous albums.
As a reminder, Ike frontman John Faye was vocals and guitar for the 90's power pop band The Caulfields. The Ike's previous albums have a very similar sound. TooPoppers should at least have The Caulfields' Whirligig in their collection.
Kudos to the Too Poppers who remember The Caulfields, the guitar-heavy power pop shouldabeens from the 90s led by John Faye, who went on to form John Faye Powertrip and Ike. Anyway, they're reuniting for a show in Philly on 12/26 and doing their first radio interview in over 10 years on 12/14:
The Caulfields, the band I grew up in and toured the world with in the 90's, will be appearing on the Wilmington, DE station 93.7 WSTW this Sunday 12/14 from 9-11pm. John Faye has quite a power pop history. He's fronted the hard-to-find Caulfields (if you're reading Too Poppy, surely you remember the Jellyfishy greatness of Devil's Diary) and John Faye Power Trip. His latest act Ike has a new album out today (which is not their first, btw) and although I haven't heard it yet, knowing Faye's past work, this one will be chock-full of the hooks and harmonies that inspire this blog.
